«It’s not really about doing more digital – it’s about doing digital better”

The FIATA HQ conference kicked off on March 30 in Geneva under the central theme 'Logistics in Transition: Bringing Knowledge to Action', with the annual meeting concluding on April 2. The Portuguese Freight Forwarders Association (APAT), represented by Regional Manager for Central and Southern Portugal Ana Camacho and Educational Coordinator Mariana Vale, actively contributed to the dialogue and shared its perspectives on the strategic directions the sector could take toward a more resilient, digital, and secure logistics future.

The 2026 FIATA HQ once again hosted a unifying event whose tradition is marked by the exchange of ideas and visions regarding the present and future of the logistics and freight forwarding sector, opening up a pluralistic and convergent discussion for associations on which paths to take in the face of not only a sector but also a world in constant transition and organic transformation. «From the evolution of supply chains to digital transformation and security challenges, the discussions reflected the complexity and dynamism that shape our sector», explained FIATA.

Organized primarily in a workshop format, the meetings facilitated a fluid exchange of perspectives and a question-and-answer dynamic that ultimately led to greater interaction among participants. A regular participant in this annual event, APAT shared the ideas that underpin its approach to the challenges of Risk Management, Supply Chain Security, Compliance, and Digital Transformation. «It’s important to be an active part of this event. It’s an opportunity for APAT to contribute to the sector’s evolution», commented Ana Camacho.

APAT also participated in the panel 'Building Effective Digital Learning', held on March 31, with Mariana Teixeira do Vale sharing the stage with Alperen Guler (FIATA Logistics Institute Chair), Adam Butler (IFCBAA), and Inessa Platonova (Ukrzovnishtrans). The discussion served to highlight «different approaches to digital training and how each association can move toward digital by providing its members with the right tools and key knowledge for a promising future», explained the APAT representative.
