Rise in containers in national ports until February

The containerized cargo market in national ports achieved an increase of 1%
The containerized cargo market in national ports achieved an increase of 1% in handled TEUs in all ports of the national system. A significant increase, considering that a decline of 1.4% in the number of containers has been noted recently.

Also worth mentioning are the the positive changes observed in the ports of Leixões (+ 6.7%), Setúbal (+ 34.5%) and Sines (+ 4%). On the other hand, the ports of Figueira da Foz and Lisbon showed drops of -22% and -20.1%, respectively.

While growth is slight (+ 1%) it is a representation of the highest ever value.

The Port of Sines keeps the leading position, with a movement that is 51.5% of the total (40.7% of the transshipment responsibility and 10.8% with the hinterland as origin or destination), followed by Leixões with 26.3%, Lisbon with 15.6% Lisbon and Setúbal with 5.8%.

The port of Sines remains in the top position in terms of tonnage of cargo handled, representing about 51.5%, followed by the port of Leixões with 20.6%, Lisbon with 11.2% and Setúbal with 8.5 %.
