The French Executive was the first to reveal that there are several French companies studying the country - "There have been dozens of projects addressed," said the French Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, Matthias Fekl.

"And the French Government will monitor all projects that will strengthen the French presence in Portugal," he added.

On Portuguese Executive side, it was the Minister of Economy to report on new investments. "The French Secretary of State talked to me about new investments in Portugal, the possibility of new investments of French companies," said Manuel Caldeira Cabral.

The Secretary of State of French Foreign Trade pointed out that there are currently 700 French companies in Portugal, with 60,000 jobs created. In 2015, trade between the two countries amounted to EUR 10 billion.

France is the second largest destination for national exports and the third largest supplier to Portugal. "This clearly shows the strength of our relationship, that can further increase in the future," said the Frenchman official.
